Office Of The Information Commissioner Of Canada (OIC)
A New, Dynamic Drupal-run Site for the OIC
Services: Web Design, Web Development, Drupal 8 CMS
The Information Commissioner of Canada is an independent ombudsman and an Officer of the Parliament of Canada. The office assists individuals and organizations who believe that federal institutions have not respected their rights under the ATIA.
Project summary: The OIC was about to be affected by legislative changes that gave the organization new powers. This was the driver to launch a new and improved OIC website. The organization chose the award-winning Drupal Bliss team to develop their new site because of their strong focus on building user-centred digital solutions.
Drupal Bliss’ Impact: The Drupal Bliss team took OIC through a rigorous process to define their organizational web needs and the needs of their audience and stakeholders. This resulted in a strategic approach that would help the organization achieve its goals of ensuring an easy and engaging site for OIC’s audiences.
Next, the team defined the content and functionality that would be required to support the proposed approach. The team programmed the site and the various modules in Drupal 8, in a LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). The programming was done to ensure that all of TBS’ standards were met (Web Accessibility, Web Usability and Web Interoperability) and the site was WCAG AA compliant.
Result: The OIC site was launched to much fanfare. The Commissioner was delighted by the dynamic and highly usable approach taken. The OIC team has seen an improvement in browsability and digestibility of the site.
